On the Sunday that we visited, we met Scott at the main Groutville church. We then followed him -- he in his 'bakkie' pick-up truck, we in our low-slung little 1995 underpowered Honda Ballade (but who's worrying?) -- up the road, and off the road a bit, to the Memorial church, one of the outstations, where Scott was to preach that day. On this page, we've posted some photos of that visit.

John and Ruthann view the shell of the old Memorial church, which per a marble plaque inside was dedicated by the wife of David Lindley -- also one of the original American Board missionaries -- in 1879. The new sanctuary, from 1998, is in the back.

We were seated on the 'men and children' side of the church, the women having the other side, the center being vacant. These were some of our pewmates, before the service began.
